This new moon is a powerful reminder to love yourself! Gathering resources that will support you moving forward with your dreams and goals is part of Capricorn’s plans.
Capricorn knows planning. Capricorn probably invented planning.
That said, on this special day, Uranus creates a beautiful trine with the New Moon. Uranus is not a planner. This planet is definitely more of a ‘let’s go with our gut and take a chance in a way that no one else has ever thought of before’ planet. This means that the ‘normal’ energy of thoughtful Capricorn is a bit disrupted (or awakened depending on your perspective).
Possibilities for new ideas are everywhere! If there was ever a new moon where innovations could almost be created instantly, this would be it!
So, while you plan and create goals for 2024, the best advice is to remain open to the magical mysterious ways in which the Universe wants to support you that fall way outside the box.
(This trine also happened in 2022 with the last Capricorn New Moon as we did not have one on 2023)
With a square to the North Node in Aries, we have the energy we need to engage quickly and with enthusiasm. There’s an element of play here which belies Capricorn’s reputation for being serious. Inside of every Capricorn is a playful (and intelligent) child (see art above).
Each of the elements offers us opportunity to connect with our goals for 2024 creatively, innovatively, and playfully. That sounds like fun!
One of the keys will be (and is for this entire year) to learn to receive the resources that are there for you. Those resources include feeling great about yourself, feeling positive about where you are in life, recognizing your own success, and embodying all the skills you need to progress on your path. If any of these don’t sound fully aligned, not to worry, you have time to deepen into your self-worth and make adjustments! That’s the beauty of how a new moon is designed.
As you review where the New Moon is in your chart and where it might be interacting with other planets, consider the messages that are there for you as divine cosmic intervention and support. Ask yourself where you might benefit from letting go of an old pattern or way of ‘being’. And then, create options for something new and different.
Capricorn is also one of the most emotionally tender signs – their sensitivity lies beneath a firm exterior of well-planned everything. They will respond with command even when things are tough. Later, though, they need a long bath, massage, and a hug (even if they don’t want to admit it!). This new moon really emphasizes the self-care (and play)!
The Capricorn energy might appear traditional at first glance. While there is an obvious strong reverence for legacy that combines ancient wisdom with the practical, this energy invites us to climb/swim (it is a mergoat!) to new heights/depths and see what else is out there!
As the embodiment of the ancient feminine, Capricorn has the capacity to nurture and to guide in ways that help others feel secure and at ‘home.’ At her best, she is the essence of the “Old Soul”.

- 2024 has dawned with a great deal of global challenge. How is your personal world? And how are you working with the energies of what is going on around you and in you?
- What/Who really matters to you right now?
- How will you drop deep into your long-term commitments and connect with the ‘bigger universal plan’ that includes a lot of letting go?
- How are you balancing the seriousness of what life is offering us right now with more play?
- What is play for you?
Capricorn energy is solid. It is what helps us build inner structures that withstand the test of time. It is also sensitive and needs nurturing in order to give its best.
Sometimes the Capricorn gift of being able to critique something and make it better goes awry and ends up being overly self-critical (and sometimes critical of others). But the essence is really mastery and excellence – two things that make a difference in sustainable dreams and visions.
What to consider in preparation for the Capricorn New Moon:
- How are your goals simple, real, life-affirming and attainable?
- What areas of your life are calling for more emotional maturity?
- Where are you developing more self-mastery?
- What areas of your life would benefit from more self-discipline?
- Which commitments are worthy of your time, energy, and love?
- How are you nurturing your dreams and visions?
- Where might you bring more playfulness into your life?
