I have a strange relationship with dusting.
As a child, I would pretend to be doing commercials in order to get through the list of things I was tasked to dust. Back then, we used a product that smelled lemony-fresh. I would arrange everything as if there was a camera pointed at me and talk to no one in particular but obviously someone who might be interested in how well this product worked.
Equally as often, I would practice my ‘Dream of Jeannie’ arms and try to blink that dust (and the dishes) away!
As I was dusting this morning, I realized that I actually enjoy it! As a practice, I could do it a lot more often because when I do it, I’m engaging in something that actually brings me joy!
And, surprise surprise, there’s a great connection to our current astrology, also!
With Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, it’s a good time to dust off what might bring you greater healing and what might deepen your connection to your pleasure.
While I was wiping my duster across lamps, mirrors, ceramics, and everything in between, I was thinking about the people who gave me the beautiful items in my house. I felt so much emotion – joy and grief being most prevalent. Bringing each person’s essence into my mind, I honored them, thanked them, and sent them love.I felt great! Maybe almost as great as when I used to do ‘commercials’ as a kid for Saturday morning chores.
Mercury is still retrograde for a few more days (through the 20th). Do you have items that were given to you by your grandparents or friends or those who have passed to the other side of the veil? If you do, dusting or cleaning or rearranging (or all of the above) would be a powerful Scorpio sanctioned ritual of remembering.
Whether you are letting go, working with forgiveness, or smiling with happy memories, you are embracing healing. That is the essence of Scorpio (and Pluto) – transformative powers used for our greatest wellness.
Scorpio Season is not fully ending this week, but the emphasis is changing. Embrace what is here right now just as your honor what was…
I used to have Saturday morning chores! I also would do the i dream of Jeanie and the Bewitched moves to try and get everything to take care of itself. I love these images. And I love the remembering how I made these moments in my childhood work for me. Thanks for the gentle reminders.
Thank you for sharing! I think our ability to imagine what could be possible (maybe someday) helped us immeasurably!
